PERSON WITH AN INTELLECTUAL IMPAIRMENT (PWII)

Players with an Intellectual Impairment (PWII)
The PWII program is an inclusive, community-based tennis pathway designed to support players with an intellectual impairment to participate in tennis in a structured, supportive, and respectful environment.
Programs are planned around the individual player, taking into account their interests, ability level, confidence, and preferred pace of learning. Sessions focus on participation, skill development, routine, and enjoyment of sport, and are delivered by qualified tennis coaches.
INDIVIDUALISED PARTICIPATION PATHWAYS
Tennis is an individual sport, allowing players to engage at their own pace and progress in a way that suits them.
For players who wish to pursue competitive opportunities, pathways may include progression toward PWII (Person with an Intellectual Impairment) competitions and events aligned with recognised PWII participation and performance pathways, where appropriate and subject to eligibility.
Participation pathways are flexible and may vary depending on the individual player’s goals and readiness.
LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
Sessions are conducted in a structured, low-distraction environment to support focus and positive engagement. Parents, carers, or support workers are welcome to attend sessions to observe, assist, or provide encouragement as needed.
Programs are delivered as sports participation activities and are not therapeutic or clinical services.
GETTING STARTED
Families are invited to register for a free trial session to determine whether the program is a good fit.
Please indicate in the registration form that you are applying for a PWII player so sessions can be prepared appropriately.
